QUALIFIER Kirk Shepherd will face John Part in the final of the 2008 Ladbrokes.com PDC World Darts Championship on New Year’s Day following a stunning 6-4 semi-final win over Wayne Mardle.
The 21-year-old from Ramsgate came through five matches in the PDPA Qualifiers at Wolverhampton in November, and has battled through another five contests at Alexandra Palace.

World Championship Review - Day 10 Qtr Finals

WAYNE MARDLE denied Phil Taylor a 15th successive Ladbrokes.com PDC World Darts Championship with a sensational 5-4 quarter-final win at Alexandra Palace on Saturday night.
In an incredible day of last eight action, Taylor saw Mardle come from three sets down to level their game, and then take victory in an enthralling decider.

World Championship Review - Day 9 evening

LADBROKES.COM WORLD DARTS CHAMPION Raymond van Barneveld was sent crashing out of the 2008 tournament with a 4-2 defeat to Kevin Painter at London’s Alexandra Palace on Friday.
The Dutchman had battled past a bout of ‘flu to reach the last 16, but saw the defence of his title come to a halt against Painter.

YOUNG STARS James Wade, Adrian Lewis and Kirk Shepherd booked places in the quarter-finals of the 2008 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship on a dramatic afternoon at Alexandra Palace.
The trio have been hailed in some quarters as the future of the sport, and showed their qualities with battling displays.

PHIL TAYLOR came back from the brink of defeat for a third successive game to keep alive his Ladbrokes.com PDC World Darts Championship hopes with a tie-break defeat of Alan Tabern.
The 13-time World Champion has been pushed to a final set in his opening two matches at Alexandra Palace, against Michael van Gerwen and Mark Walsh, and again rode his luck against the world number 18.

WORLD NUMBER FIVE Andy Hamilton slumped to defeat against Alex Roy at the Ladbrokes.com PDC World Darts Championship on Thursday afternoon.
Hamilton, the runner-up in last month’s Grand Slam of Darts and a semi-finalist at the World Championship 12 months ago, failed to find his spark as the world number 27 progressed to the last 16.

World Championship Review - Day 7

JAMES WADE was forced to dig deep to book his place in the last 16 of the Ladbrokes.com PDC World Darts Championship on Boxing Day.
The world number three saw Steve Beaton come from two sets down to level in their round two contest at Alexandra Palace, with the 1996 World Champion also taking the lead in the deciding set.

PHIL TAYLOR made another remarkable comeback to edge out Mark Walsh 4-3 and book his place in the last 16 of the Ladbrokes.com PDC World Darts Championship.
The 13-time World Champion had to come from behind in his first round clash against Michael van Gerwen, and had to produce another Great Escape to see off Walsh.

World Championship Review - Day 6 afternoon

PETER MANLEY kept alive his hopes of a fourth Ladbrokes.com PDC World Darts Championship final with a 4-1 win over Alan Warriner-Little as the second round of the tournament began on Saturday.
Manley, the runner-up to Phil Taylor in 1999, 2006 and 2006, produced a clinical display to see off his fellow Cumbrian at Alexandra Palace in five sets.

NUMBER THREE SEED James Wade made a fine start to his bid for the 2008 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship on Friday night.
The World Matchplay and World Grand Prix champion dropped just one leg in a 3-0 destruction of Australian Steve MacArthur at London’s Alexandra Palace to reach the last 32.
