THE three-way battle for the final play-off spot in the Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts will be decided on Thursday night as the league phase ends at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle.

Phil Taylor, James Wade and Raymond van Barneveld have already ensured their places in the semi-finals in Cardiff on May 26 - with three players battling for the final top four spot.

Premier League 08 Review - Night 13

PHIL TAYLOR moved to the top of the Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts on Thursday night, as Raymond van Barneveld secured his place in the play-offs.

Taylor extended his unbeaten run to nine matches with an 8-1 rout of Wayne Mardle at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast.

Premier League 08 Preview - Night 13

RAYMOND VAN BARNEVELD is looking to complete a Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts double over table-topper James Wade when the tournament visits Belfast on Thursday.

The Dutchman got his campaign back on track last week with a classy 8-4 defeat of Adrian Lewis - ending a run of three defeats in four matches.

PDC Statement re The League of Legends

Premier League 08 Review - Night 12

JAMES WADE and Phil Taylor sealed their places in the Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts play-offs at the Wembley Arena on Thursday night.

Wade maintained his lead at the top of the league table with two weeks remaining with an 8-6 defeat of Peter Manley, taking the last three legs for victory after trailing for long periods in a tight tussle.

Championship of Darts Launched

The Professional Darts Corporation and Perform, the digital sports specialists, have launched the Championship of Darts - the first ever darts tournament to be solely broadcast on and funded by internet distribution.

In a world first for darts, all aspects of the tournament, which will take place in September and October, will be optimised specifically for an internet and betting audience, with matches scheduled between 11am and 9pm to maximise both workplace and home viewing.

Taylor averaged over 103 in a scintillating performance in front of a record 8,000 crowd in Liverpool to keep pace with James Wade at the head of the table.
