Bristow Rolls Back The Years

Eric Bristow turned back the clock to his 1980s heyday with a dramatic 7-5 win against Bobby George in the Betfred.com League of Legends at Purfleet’s Circus Tavern.

The five-time former world champion repeated his victory over George in the 1980 world final as he belied his status as a 5/1 underdog to turn over the sponsors’ pre-tournament second favourite.

Bobby’s Thirst for Revenge

Bobby George is thirsting for revenge when he and Eric Bristow re-enact one of the most famous darts matches of all time on the opening night of the Betfred.com League of Legends.

The star duo fought out a classic final of the 1980 World Championship, won 5-3 by Bristow, in the first darts match that truly captured the public’s imagination.

Premier League 08 Preview - Finals Night

Robert Thornton Joins PDC

Robert Thornton, the current BDO number one, has moved onto the Professional Darts Corporation circuit and joined the PDPA.

The Scottish star won the 2007 World Masters and this year’s Dutch Open, before recently coming through the Holsten Qualifiers to win a place in next month’s Blue Square UK Open.

US Open 08 Review

DAY ONE REVIEW

PHIL TAYLOR’S defence of the PartyPoker.net PDC US Open began successfully on Friday night as he romped into the last 16 without dropping a set at the Mohegan Sun Casino, Connecticut.

Taylor will face Colin Osborne in the Fifth Round on Saturday, having seen off Robert St Onge, Scott Cummings, Kevin Dowling and Alan Warriner-Little in the event’s early rounds.

Ally Pally to Host World Championship

ALEXANDRA PALACE is to host the Ladbrokes.com PDC World Darts Championship for the next four years.

The iconic north London venue hosted the World Championship for the first time last Christmas, when almost 30,000 fans flocked to ‘Ally Pally’.

Gibraltar Open 08

WINS FOR LOUISE CARROL AND FEDERICO POZO

The 2008 Gibraltar Open Singles titles went to Spain’s Federico Pozo who defeated fellow countryman Jose Escudero by 4 legs to three in a very closely fought final. England’s Stuart Foale hit a 9 darter on stage in his Semi-final against Escudero but it was not enough to prevent a 4-3 defeat. Stuart shared third place with Gibraltar’s Dylan Duo.

The Women’s Singles was an all England final with Louise Carroll getting the better of Lorraine Morris by four legs to one. Third place was shared by Margaret Ferguson from Scotland and Linda Jones of England.

Sport Stars Poker

Six top PDC darts players swapped tungsten for clay and battled it out in the darts players heat of the third Sports Stars Poker Challenge. Nobody was interested in the money, all six were playing for pride and bragging rights in the practise room. Fiercely competitive on the oche, this will to win was transferred to the green baize and what a Hollywood production it turned out to be.
