Posted on September 4th, 2010

TICKETS for the Grand Slam of Darts, to be held at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall from November 13-21, go on general sale on Monday morning.

The fourth staging of the Grand Slam, which sees champions of major tournaments come together to battle for the £100,000 first prize across nine days, live in front of the ITV Sport cameras.

The 32 players will include reigning champion Phil Taylor, the Stoke legend who has won all three previous Grand Slams since the tournament was introduced in 2007.

Other challengers will include Telford’s former BDO World Champion Ted Hankey, Wolverhampton’s in-form Wayne Jones – the European Championship runner-up last month – and Ledbury’s world number five Terry Jenkins.

The field will also include new PDC Unicorn Women’s World Champion Stacy Bromberg, and top stars Raymond van Barneveld, James Wade, Mervyn King and Simon Whitlock, the Australian who reached the PDC World Championship final in January, as well as BDO stars Tony O’Shea and Scott Waites.

“We’re eagerly anticipating the Grand Slam of Darts in November and this should be the most exciting tournament since we launched this concept back in 2007,” said PDC Chairman Barry Hearn.

“The standard of play has continued to rise over the past year and there’s no doubt that the level is higher than ever before, which will mean more top-quality matches for Wolverhampton fans in the Grand Slam of Darts.

“Phil Taylor’s obviously going to be the man to beat following his success this year, but it’s been great to see Wayne Jones playing so well recently and I’m sure players like Ted Hankey, Terry Jenkins and Raymond van Barneveld will be determined to succeed in November.”

Three tournaments remain for players to qualify for the Grand Slam of Darts, with the finalists from the PDC’s Championship League Darts and Bodog.com World Grand Prix guaranteed a place in Wolverhampton alongside four players from the ITV Wildcard Qualifier, an open event which will be held on Friday November 5 in Barnsley.

Tickets for the Grand Slam of Darts have been on priority sale this week to PDCtv subscribers, with interest high from fans keen to snap up their seats at the Wolves Civic creating record early sales.

Tickets go on general sale from the Wolves Civic Box Office on Monday morning at 9am, priced from £15-£35.

Tickets can be purchased from the Wolves Civic Box Office in person or on 0870 320 7000. Full Terms & Conditions are available at www.pdc.tv or www.wolvescivic.co.uk.
