Dutchman Geert de Vos won a close encounter with Alan Norris to take the men’s Bulls German Open singles title 3-2. Norris reached the final by defeating  Gary Thompson 2-1, whilst de Vos recovered from a first set loss to beat Scott Mitchell 2-1 in the other semi-final.

Scott Waites and Martin Adams were last 16 casualties, losing to Scott Mitchell and Brian de Hoog respectively. A field of 800 men contested the singles event, with the likes of Tony O’Shea, Darren Fitton, Stephen Bunting and Ross Montgomery bowing out at the last 64 stage.Clive Barden and Steve Douglas took the men’s pairs title, beating Jimmy Hendriks and Scott Mitchell 2-1.

Deta Hedman continued her succesful year by taking both the women’s singles and pairs titles (with Trina Gulliver). She beat Lorraine Farlam in the singles, and she and Trina triumphed over Irina Armstrong and Francis Hoenselaar in the women’s Pairs.
