PDC Players Championship Finals – Huybrechts, Pipe, Whitlock & Taylor Progress

The Force will meet The Hurricane in the first semi-final of the 2012 PDC Players Championship at Butlins Minehead on Sunday evening, as Justin Pipe and Kim Huybrechts clash for the right to stake a claim on the £60k first prize.
In a match which will see Pipe competing in his first PDC televised semi-final, the local man will need to build on the solid performance that eliminated Mervyn King earlier today.
Huybrechts simply needs to continue where he left off following an impressive, clinical display in his victory of Peter Wright which included a 104+ average, 5 x 180′s and high finishes of 121 & 130.
Snakebite did little wrong; registering a near 100 average himself, but it was the young Belgian who was first to the doubles.
The second semi-final will feature Simon Whitlock and Phil Taylor following their respective wins over Gary Anderson and Andy Hamilton.
Whitlock had initially led 6-1 before Anderson hit back, the Scotman’s superb fightback threatened to take the game all the way, however despite hitting his seventh 180 of the game he missed the bull and two darts at double 8, allowing Whitlock to pin his double and complete a brilliant 10-8 win.
The Hammer was unable to pull off his second victory over Taylor from 29 attempts, having forged a 7-4 lead a 142 finish to register a 12 dart leg put him just 2 legs away from a place in the final, he took the next, but failed to kill the match off (at one point missing the board with 3 darts in hand to finish 60).
This nervy display allowed Taylor to claw back the 5 legs he needed to force the game into a deciding leg, with momentum on his side The Power finished on his trusty double 16; leaving the Hammer to contemplate would could have been.
