Last night saw the conclusion of the first round matches at Ally Pally, so what has our Tipster found in terms of second round value for today?

We have a full day today with the darts starting at 12.40, and have the luxury of having seen every player play, and although we should have a better knowledge of player form, every match will be tighter than the first round matches

After a good start to the week we have been a little unlucky, largely due to the lesser players having come to the fore on the big stage, and after a disastrous day yesterday we are now  -27 pts,  but are determined to make a comeback  today and get back into profit

Andy Hamilton v Richie Burnett
Richie was definitely not at his best when taking out World Youth Champion James Hubbard 3-2 with a meagre 82.73 but still hit 4 x 180′s, but the Hammer looks good after disposing of James Richardson with ease and always looks determined in every game he plays. Therefore our bets are:

HAMILTON MORE 180′s @10/11 WITH WILLIAM HILL
HAMILTON TO HAVE THE HIGHEST CHECKOUT @4/7 WITH WILLIAM HILL

Dave Chisnall v Daryl Gurney
Chisnall had a fight in his first round from Shane Tichowitsch, but still managed a 3-0 victory by holding his cool and taking vital doubles in set deciding legs.  Daryl managed to win his pre-lim game 4-3 and then dispose of an out of sorts Andy Smith 3-1.  Dave Chisnall as we all know is a big scorer and will be a little bit too much for Gurney I feel.  Our recommendation for this game is:

CHISNALL WITH THE -2.5 HANDICAP @4/5 WITH WILLIAM HILL

Gary Anderson v John Bowles
Both of these players had fantastic games to set up their second round meeting, Gary looking like the player we all know he is again with a 98.82 ave & John taking Jamie Caven to a final set tie break with a 93.56 ave.  If they can both keep up the same form this will be a great game.  Our recommendations are:

JOHN BOWLES WITH A +3.5 HANDICAP @4/7 WITH BETFRED

Terry Jenkins v John Part
Jenkins is an ever present in the latter stages of TV tournaments and just quietly goes about his business and his 94+ average has to put him in to good stead against John.  John was very clinical in his first game but I cannot see past Jenkins for this match so the bet for this match is:

TERRY JENKINS TO WIN @8/13 WITH WILLIAM HILL, CORALS & BETFRED

Robert Thornton v Paul Nicholson
Thornton sailed into the second round dropping only one leg against the experienced Magnus Caris with a 99+ average.  Paul Nicholson was 12 points off Robert’s average in his first game v Co Stompe however still managed a convincing 3-0 win.  The bookies have Thornton as big favourite for this match and we don’t disagree.  I can’t see anything but a Thornton victory and with that our recommendations are:

THORNTON TO WIN @8/15 WITH CORALS

Phil Taylor v Jerry Hendricks
This is a match that we are not going to get too involved in.  Phil will continue his fight for the 16th World title and will not let Hendricks stand in his way.  We fully expect Taylor to do what he does best and have a convincing win, however we will be having a little dabble on the 180 market with some bookies offering over 7.5 so our recommendation for this game is:
