Jimmy Hendriks ended Martin Adams hopes of a fourth World Professional darts title today, the young Dutchman dumped Wolfie out the competition 3-2 on his Lakeside debut. Number one seed Steven Bunting managed to avoid the potential banana skin of James Wilson, after taking the opening set without reply he allowed Wilson to settle in and take 2 sets before cleaning up the deciding set 3-0.
Steve Douglas defied the odds to win his game against Gary Stone, just over 3 weeks ago he found himself in hospital after suffering a heart attack, today he was on the Lakeside stage notching up a 3-1 victory against the Scottish player.
An emotional Scott Mitchell ended his run of bad luck at Frimley Green; his 3-2 win over Mark Barilli sees him progress to the last 16 of the competition at the fourth time of asking, finally breaking his Lakeside duck.
The evening session saw Wesley Harms and Jan Dekker ensure progression into the second round with victories over David Rune and Jefferey de Graaf respectively, and in the ladies competition Sharon Prins and Anastasia Dobromyslovabooked their places in the semi-finals of the ladies competition.
