Number 1 Seed Bunting Eliminated by Fitton

lakeside1 Lakeside World Darts Championship Day 4 Results A 167 tournament high checkout (thus far) wasn’t enough to keep Steven Bunting in the 2013 BDO World Professional darts Championship, as he lost out 4-2 to Darryl Fitton in a good quality game that saw both player’s 3 dart average hit the mid 90′s.

The first seed fell behind after losing the opening set, but went on to forge a 2-1 lead. Five missed darts at doubles meant he was unable to extend this to 3-1 as Fitton squared the match.

With the momentum back with the 50 year old bottom seed, he powered on taking the next two sets to secure his place in the quarter final. Earlier Robbie Green continued his winning ways with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Scott Mitchell – Mitchell’s joy at progressing past the first round turning out to be short lived.

Alan Norris let a 2-0 sets lead slip as Wesley Harms hit back to square the match, taking out madhouse to kill off a nervy fourth set, fifth leg which saw both players miss numerous attempts at doubles. The following sets were shared taking the match to a seventh and final set, which Harms won 3-1 completing a satisfying comeback for the Dutchman.

2012 runner-up Tony O’Shea ended Steve Douglas’ hopes of a quarter final place as he dominated their game to win 4-1. Douglas though will be pleased just to have reached the Lakeside stage and win his initial game having suffered a heart attack less than four weeks ago. OShea now takes on Robbie Green, with Harms and Fitton also battling for a semi-final place in their next match.
