2013 Speedy Services UK Open Last 16 Results
Defending Champion Robert Thornton will not retain his UK Open title following a 9-7 defeat by Raymond van Barneveld. The Dutchman maintained his clean sheet against The Thorn (the Scot has never beaten RvB in competitive play) despite falling 4-1 behind.
Barney will be joined in the last 8 by Phil Taylor who survived 3 match darts as his opponent Brendan Dolan (who led for most of the game) failed to kill off the match, having drawn level Taylor then went on to secure victory with an 11 dart leg in the decider.
James Wade booked his quarter-final spot with a comfortable 9-4 victory over Big John Henderson and Adrian Lewis brushed aside Kevin Painter 9-6 finishing in style taking out D16 for an 11 dart leg.
The rest of the quarter final field will be made up by Andy Hamilton following his 9-1 demolition of Terry Temple, Peter Wright thanks to his 9-4 defeat of Steve West, Ronnie Baxter who managed to overcome the resurgent Jelle Klassen 9-7 and Michael van Gerwen who eased past Terry Jenkins 9-3.
