John Smith’s People’s Darts Finalist Darren Bennett Speaks

Sutton darts player Darren Bennett has reached a televised national final at the legendary Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green. The Lakeside is the home of the BDO World Professional Darts Championship and has been staging the tournament since 1986.
Darren qualified for the John Smith’s People’s Darts Final after winning the Central England regional final in Coventry.
He will now be coached by darts ace Ted ‘The Count’ Hankey ahead of January’s final.

Hometown Hero Set For Debut

Only a couple of years ago Mick McGowan was the one player nobody wanted to draw. Climbing the rankings rapidly, having hit a rich vein of form, “The Magnet” was playing better than just about every other player on the circuit. With a world ranking outside the top 32 it meant he was often drawing one of the top ranked established “stars”…and beating them.

Shaun Greatbatch cancer shock

Co Stompe joins PDC

Co Stompe has joins left the BDO fold to join the PDC circuit and compete for the biggest prizes in darts. Co spent over a decade as one of the top BDO players and was ranked number 11 before his move.

Ally Pally to Host World Championship

ALEXANDRA PALACE is to host the Ladbrokes.com PDC World Darts Championship for the next four years.
The iconic north London venue hosted the World Championship for the first time last Christmas, when almost 30,000 fans flocked to ‘Ally Pally’.

Sport Stars Poker

Six top PDC darts players swapped tungsten for clay and battled it out in the darts players heat of the third Sports Stars Poker Challenge. Nobody was interested in the money, all six were playing for pride and bragging rights in the practise room. Fiercely competitive on the oche, this will to win was transferred to the green baize and what a Hollywood production it turned out to be.

Wayne Mardle Feature

Wayne Mardle is one of the most colourful characters in world darts. With his trademark Hawaiian theme engrossing the crowd with its loud extravagant shirts and walk on music of smash hit American police show Hawaii Five-0.
Nevertheless, when the referee shouts game-on, Mardle is 100% focused on the job in hand and the showman side of the Romford thrower goes out the window and the professional Mardle steps up to the oche.

Lewis Misses Birmingham Premier League

Adrian Lewis has been forced to pull out of Thursday’s Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts through illness.
Lewis has been struck by viral gastroenteritis since returning from the PartyPoker.net Players Championships in Germany on Monday.

Dennis Priestley Return to Action

DENNIS PRIESTLEY makes his return to action in the North West Players Championship, less than three months after undergoing surgery for prostate cancer.
Priestley, 57, was diagnosed with the disease late last year, continuing to play on the professional circuit until the Ladbrokes.com PDC World Championship at Christmas.
