Andy Fordham Renews Winmau Contract
Former World Champion Andy “The Viking” Fordham has extended his long-standing sponsorship and equipment deal with the world’s leading darts brand Winmau.

The Viking – A Big Character
The three-year renewal will see the darts icon continue to play with Winmau darts equipment and wear the company’s logo on his playing shirt.
Fordham signed with Winmau in 2005 and has spent the past 9 years working closely with Winmau to fine-tune his darts and assist the company’s Research and Development department.
The 51 year-old Englishman, who is still undoubtedly one of darts most popular ever players, won the World Championship in 2004, said: ” I’ve had a tough time over the last few years with my health and trying to battle to get back to my best form, but Winmau has supported me every step of the way.
“Their faith and encouragement is the reason why I have my hunger back and I’m really enjoying playing on the BDO tour. It was the easiest decision of my life to re-sign with them and I’m honoured to represent this quality brand.” Read the rest of this entry »

So when you are at home playing mates/practicing there’s no problem in having the DartsMate doing the work for you with no mess from chalk dust and more importantly it tracks your averages – something no chalkboard can.

Winmau Support the World Disability Darts Association
Posted on February 11th, 2013
Winmau have demonstrated their support for the World Disability Darts Association (WDDA) by becoming the Association’s exclusive darts partner. Below is the media release from Winmau:
The WDDA was recently founded by Russ Strobel who says “The establishment of the World Disability Darts Association is the end product of a long campaign waged to open our sport to players with disability.
The endorsement of a lowered board height for wheelchair players at the world’s highest level was important because darts and its well established infrastructure is an ideal environment in which those living with disability can participate.
Our sport is enveloped in a valuable supportive and social network, and of all sports none holds greater potential to improve one’s overall feeling of wellbeing long-term.
Winmau’s high level of support is indicative of the integrity of their policies in relation to those living with disability. Winmau’s joint sponsorship of the WDDA and Wheelchair Darts UK has enabled us to join forces under the one brand whose munificent support will help us realise our goals.”
Russ’ campaign was aimed at gaining official acknowledgement that a board set at 137cm was as fair and equivalent for a wheelchair player as the standard board height of 173cm is for a standing player. His dartboard setup guidelines have now been approved by the World Darts Federation for use in all WDF sanctioned events where the Wildfire 137 dart frame concept is available for use.
The ingenious Wildfire 137 dart frame was designed to allow wheelchair players the opportunity to compete directly with standing players throwing at their respective heights on the one piece of equipment.
Winmau will be including the new guidelines in their next print-run of instruction booklets which are included in all dartboard packaging, and they will gradually filter worldwide as new stock enters the market during the months ahead.
Addressing the many requests during his campaign to develop something equally challenging for an even wider range of disabilities Russ created The Satellite, a visually striking, magnetic pendulum-action game; based pro-rata on the scoring proportions of a dartboard.
Unique Satellite competitions will be held at all WDDA events enabling participation and networking of players and carers living with a wide range of disabilities including Cerebral Palsy, Vision Impairment, and most levels of Quadriplegia.
Ian Flack, Sales and Marketing Director of Winmau, said “I first met Russ from the country town of Yarram in Victoria Australia last year after his meeting with the WDF in the UK and was overwhelmed by his generosity of spirit and determination not only to see people with disability enjoy the sport of darts but to promote darts as an adjunct to rehabilitation and therapy.
We are incredibly proud to be working alongside Russ and his fellow WDDA Board Members to help people of all ages and abilities experience the enjoyment and benefits of our sport. We officially endorse the Wildfire 137 and The Satellite and will be using our marketing and distribution networks to help the WDDA wherever possible.
Working jointly we will spread the word globally and hope that recognition of the WDDA leads to our sport’s future inclusion as a Paralympics event.”
The first WDDA all-disabilities event using both the Wildfire 137 dart frame and The Satellite will be held on May 18th and 19th 2013 in Dandenong, Victoria, Australia. The Winmau Blade 4 dartboard is the board of choice for all WDDA tournaments.
For further information on the WDDA, please visit http://www.world-disability-darts.org or email Russ Strobel – allbrothers@bigpond.com.
You can follow the WDDA on Facebook and on twitter Russ Strobel@wildfire137

John Gwynne To Call It Quits
Posted on January 30th, 2013
I’ve just come off the phone to Sky commentator John Gwynne who tells me he’s calling it quits in the commentary box after the World Matchplay in July.
It seems the 67-year old feels the time is right to hand the reins to the younger guys after two decades of service in which he has witnessed first hand the Phil Taylor era and the rise of the PDC. There’s a book promised about all he has experienced.
John has published a statement in the latest Darts World magazine and has sent us some words over to explain his reasons and what his future plans are.
We will be sorry to see John go. He is the last of the Holy Trinity and it will be strange to no longer hear the unique tones of Messrs Waddell, Gwynne & Lanning as the tungsten thuds into the sisal.
As Pyke, Studd, Mardle & Pearson pick up the cudgel, Gwynne begins his wander into the sunset with the forthcoming Premier League but won’t be in our ears this weekend at the World Cup of Darts – one of the factors in his decision it appears.

MvG Bodugi Sponsorship Launch
The Porter’s Lodge is a subterranean central London watering hole where the wood panelled walls are literally festooned with dartboards. The sticky carpet could catch flies, apart from the well-trodden strips measuring seven feet nine and a quarter where tonight’s action will focus.
One of those strips will see recent World Championship runner up, Michael van Gerwen, make many trips to the board and back, extracting three well aimed tungsten missiles that have been ripping the PDC Pro Tour apart over the last year or so.
To say MvG (for ‘tis how he is known) has been setting the darts world alight recently is like saying Guy Fawkes fancied turning the Houses of Parliament heating up a bit. The Dutchman has been on fire.
World Grand Prix champion in October was followed by a runners up spot at November’s Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton and then his near miss last week at the Ally Pally. This capped an incredible year for the Dutchman that included seven Pro Tour wins and some astronomical averages.
Phil Taylor aside he has raised the bar for every other player and almost achieved a feat nobody has ever done – back to back 9-darters. He was half a centimetre away from 18 perfect darts; in a World Championship semi-final.
He’s still only 23.
2012 was good but 2013 promises to be a massive year for MvG, starting with a Premier League debut in February, and fast growing social betting website Bodugi has recognised this by snapping up the hottest darts player on the planet.

Bash The Bookies With The Tungsten Tipster’s Darts Betting Tips

Bash The Bookies!
If you are a regular reader of the website you should, by now be aware of a new addition to the team – The Tungsten Tipster. The World Darts Championship games this week have been his proving ground.
Thursday night was the undoing of a largely successful previous 3 days, hence the pressure was well and truly on yesterday to find value bets from 6 No. second round matches…
Good news! With 7 from 9 singles and the treble all coming in, we have once again got the upper hand on the bookies, in fact we have bashed them. The total profit for the week stands at a very healthy +139 points!
World Championship Darts Betting Tips from The Tungsten Tipster
Saturday 22 December 2012
After turning a 27 point deficit into a massive 139 point profit I’m treating myself to an evening of darts, so The Tungsten Tipster will be at the Ally Pally to cheer on his own tips!
Kevin Painter v Ronnie Baxter
First game on today, Painter being a big stage player gives him the edge in my mind over an out of sorts Baxter. Therefore our bets for this match are Painter to win @ 8/11 William Hill & most 180s Painter @ 10/11. Read the rest of this entry »

Winmau Support the 2013 Punch Darts Classic
Posted on December 22nd, 2012
Punch Taverns, the UK’s leading tenanted and leased pub company, has teamed up with Winmau for the 2013 Punch Darts Classic. Registration is now open and the first round of the competition will start in May 2013.
The two companies will work together on the marketing campaign for the successful darts competition, which for 2013 boasts an impressive £10,000 prize fund. It also has the major benefit to the dart player of being free to enter!
The pub company, which has approximately 4,500 pubs in its estate, saw a quarter of its pubs from across the UK participate in the 2012 Punch Darts Classic.
Punch Taverns has seen a dramatic increase in the amount of pubs eager to participate in the 2013 competitions, which includes a team and singles event.
Punch Buying Club Director, Andy Slee, said the competitions are a powerful business driver for pubs, as it was impossible to replicate the experiences anywhere else. Read the rest of this entry »
