Following news of the Phil Taylor Roadshow dates, summer is heating up at Rileys Darts Zones across the country with a host of other darts events to get you hot under the collar.
Kicking off this month, Rileys Sports Bar is bringing darts to the people in style, with the help of some of the finest legends in darts.
Committed to propelling darts to new heights in the UK, big names such as Paul Nicholson, Mark Webster, Tony O’Shea, Robert Thornton and John Henderson will make up a list of not-to-be-missed events throughout the Summer, where lucky competition winners will get the opportunity to go up against these legends. They will also take the time to answer questions from the crowd, as well as signing autographs.
Maurice Kelly, Chief Executive of Rileys Sports Bars, said: “We are delighted to have so many big names visit our clubs this summer, proving that we have always been serious about our darts. Darts is a great social sport that gets everyone involved but it has been difficult for people to find high quality facilities to play, as pubs across the country are closing daily.”

Taunton’s Pipe claimed the biggest victory of his career as he pocketed the £15,000 first prize at the Arena Nova in Wiener Neustadt, following up victories over top-ten stars Gary Anderson and Raymond van Barneveld on Sunday by seeing off world number three Wade.
He had begun his challenge with a victory over Austria’s home star Mensur Suljovic on Friday night and then defeated young Dutchman Gino Vos in round two before taking wins over Anderson, Joe Cullen, van Barneveld and Wade in Sunday’s final stages. Read the rest of this entry »

Simon Whitlock hit a sensational nine-dart finish in the Austrian Darts Open on Saturday night – but lost to Joe Cullen as the youngster produced a superb display to move into the last 16 of the European Tour event in Austria.
Whitlock matched the achievement of Michael Smith, who hit a nine-darter on Friday, as he landed a perfect leg early in his clash with Cullen, hitting two 180s and finishing 141 with treble 20, treble 15 and double 18.
However, the Australian went on to find himself 4-1 down and, although he levelled the game, Cullen took the next two to seal victory, hitting four 180s and two 177s in the process of taking a memorable triumph.
“It’s one of the best wins of my career,” said Cullen “I was always confident that I could beat Simon, even when he hit the nine-darter, and I’ve got to take this form in Sunday now.”
Whitlock admitted: “The nine-darter was great but it also made the game so much harder for me because of the celebration. Joe was sensational and deserved to win, but to hit the nine-darter and lose is disappointing.” Read the rest of this entry »

Emerging star Michael Smith hit a nine-darter in the first day of the PDC’s inaugural European Tour event on Friday, as big guns Raymond van Barneveld, James Wade, Gary Anderson and Simon Whitlock joined him in the second round of the Austrian Darts Open.

St Helens-based Smith, 21, continued his impressive form in 2012 by achieving a perfect leg, his first in a senior event, in a 6-4 comeback win against Jamie Caven.
The youngster – who has one both a Players Championship and a PDC Unicorn Youth Tour event this year – trailed Caven 3-0 when he hit back-to-back 180s and finished 141 with treble 20, treble 19 and double 12 to complete the nine-darter, matching his achievement on the Youth Tour last year. PHIL TAYLOR bounced back to winning ways in the McCoy’s Premier League Darts with an 8-3 defeat of Simon Whitlock on Thursday night, as three draws in the other matches at the Echo Arena in Liverpool left the Play-Off race wide open.
Taylor had suffered his first defeat of the Premier League season when he lost to Adrian Lewis a week ago, and another upset was threatened when Whitlock, aided by a 161 checkout, took a 3-1 lead in their clash.
The 15-time World Champion, though, reeled off seven successive legs to ensure that he will end the regular season at the top of the league table. Read the rest of this entry »

ADRIAN LEWIS could end Gary Anderson’s hopes of retaining the McCoy’s Premier League Darts title when the pair clash at the Echo Arena in Liverpool on Thursday, as the battle for places in the £450,000 tournament’s Play-Offs reaches a critical night.
Reigning champion Anderson has slumped to the foot of the Premier League table in recent weeks, having picked up only one point from seven matches since defeating Lewis 8-1 in Exeter on March 1.
The Scot has to defeat Lewis in Thursday’s repeat of the 2011 Premier League final if he is to keep alive his slim hopes of making the Play-Offs, with the World Champion knowing that a victory in Liverpool would put him closer to a semi-final place.
“It’s a massive match,” said Lewis, who defeated league leader Phil Taylor 8-5 last week. “Gary’s lost six out of his last seven but there’s no doubt he’ll be trying his hardest against me.
“You can’t take him lightly because he’s incredibly talented and he’s the defending champion. Read the rest of this entry »
