The Power Makes it 3 From 5 at Crondon Park
The Power retained the Championship League Darts title with a brilliant 6-4 win over Simon Whitlock to crown a flawless Winners Group at Crondon Park GC on Thursday.
Taylor had uncharacteristically failed to win through in the first three groups before claiming glory in Group Four in mid-October, and returned to Crondon Park GC in Essex for Thursday’s big-money Winners Group.
He won all seven league matches, whitewashing Wednesday’s Group Eight winner Mark Walsh in one game, before seeing off Dave Chisnall 6-0 in the semi-finals with a stunning 112.73 average.
He then led 2-0 in the final against Whitlock, hitting two 180s in the second leg, before the Australian star finished 61 for a 14-darter to reply. Read the rest of this entry »

Mark Walsh Wins Championship League Darts Group 8
Special Brew defeated Steve Beaton 6-5 in the final of Championship League Darts’ Group Eight to claim the last spot in Thursday’s big-money Winners Group of the internet-streamed tournament.
Walsh has lost in two previous group finals this season but sealed his place alongside the likes of Phil Taylor, Simon Whitlock and Wes Newton with the narrowest of victories over Beaton.
In another dramatic day of action, Dutchman Michael van Gerwen finished at the top of the league table following the round-robin group stage only to lose in the semi-finals – although he did create a piece of history along the way.
Van Gerwen averaged an incredible 121.86 in a 6-0 whitewash of Beaton during the league phase which took only eight minutes and 15 seconds to complete as he restricted the former World Champion to just one dart at a double. Read the rest of this entry »

Jamie Caven Wins Championship League Darts Group 7
Jamie Caven won through to the Championship League Darts Winners Group on Tuesday evening, defeating Paul Nicholson 6-4 to take victory in Group Seven of the internet-streamed event.
Derby’s Caven, 36, continued his return to form in a superb day of darts in the tightest group yet this year, as the eight players battled it out in a high-quality day of darts.
Michael van Gerwen, the recent PartyPoker.com World Grand Prix champion, won all seven league matches with some superb darts, completing a league stage win over Caven with a 170 checkout and a 107.7 average.
The Dutch ace finished at the top of the league table, but lost 6-3 in the semi-finals to Nicholson – who only took fourth place in the final round of league games with a 6-1 win over Richie Burnett. Read the rest of this entry »

Dave Chisnall Wins Championship League Darts Group 6
The Chizzy Rascal booked his place in the Championship League Darts Winners Group by defeating Mark Walsh 6-3 in the Group Six final of the internet-streamed event on Thursday.
The St Helens thrower, competing in his first season of Championship League Darts, had been the Group Three runner-up three weeks ago and had reached the semi-finals in Group Four and Group Five earlier this week.
However, he finally managed to progress to the big-money Winners Group on November 1 with a brilliant showing on Thursday, as he now aims to take the £10,000 title and win a place in the William Hill Grand Slam of Darts.
Chisnall won six of his seven league games in the eight-player round-robin stage during Thursday’s Group Six, being joined by Jamie Caven at the head of the league table. Read the rest of this entry »

Fifth Time Lucky For Simon Whitlock
The beard to be feared won through to the Championship League Darts Winners Group at the fifth time of asking with victory over Paul Nicholson in the Group Five final on Wednesday.
The Australian star has been involved in each day of the internet-streamed tournament so far this year, but finally tasted victory by seeing off his World Cup of Darts team-mate Nicholson 6-3 in the final.
Whitlock had been the only player to defeat Nicholson during the round-robin league phase of the event on Wednesday at Crondon Park GC in Essex, edging a 6-5 win with an 11-darter in the final leg of that contest.
Whitlock also enjoyed four other wins in the league phase, while Nicholson’s win over Dave Chisnall in the final round of matches saw him jump above the St Helens man to finish top of the league table on Legs Won after the pair took six victories apiece. Read the rest of this entry »

Taylor Wins Through in Group Four
The Power booked his place in the Championship League Darts Winners Group with a flawless display to claim Group Four glory in the internet-streamed event on Tuesday.
Taylor, the reigning champion in the event, had failed to win through in the first three groups for the first time since the introduction of Championship League Darts in 2008 – narrowly avoiding elimination in Group Three recently.
However, after the disappointment of that result and his narrow second round exit to Robert Thornton in last week’s PartyPoker.com World Grand Prix, when he missed five match darts, the Stoke great was back to his best at Crondon Park GC.
Taylor won all seven of his league games in a superb day of darts, holding off Simon Whitlock’s fightback from 5-0 down to win his opening game 6-4 before dropping only five more legs in the group stage. Read the rest of this entry »

The Blackpool man made a slow start after losing his first two league matches of the day, but found his form as he won four of his remaining five league matches, including a 6-4 victory against Phil Taylor in his final round of games, to claim a semi-final place.

Pipe Wins Championship League Darts Group Two
Justin Pipe enjoyed a dream debut in Championship League Darts with victory in Group Two of the tournament as he defeated Phil Taylor 6-5 in Wednesday’s final.
Pipe’s rise up to 11th in the PDC Order of Merit over the past year has meant he qualified for the £200,000, internet-streamed event for the first time, and after winning Group Two his success means that he now returns to Crondon Park GC in Essex on November 1 for the big-money Winners Group.
Pipe, the winner of five ranking titles over the past year, showed his quality in the multi-game format by winning four of his seven league games in the round-robin phase of the event, taking victories over Kevin Painter, Adrian Lewis, Simon Whitlock and Mark Webster.
Having finished third in the league table, he made amends for a narrow 6-5 defeat to Terry Jenkins in the league phase by winning their semi-final 6-4 before edging out Taylor in a deciding leg in the final.
Pipe won the final’s first two legs before Taylor took the lead courtesy of three successive double 16 finishes, before he landed double ten to move 4-2 up. Read the rest of this entry »

The Warrior Wins Championship League Darts Group One
Wes Newton won Group One of Championship League Darts as he crowned a fine day of darts with a 6-3 victory over World Champion Adrian Lewis in the final at Crondon Park GC in Essex.
World number one Phil Taylor topped the league table following the round-robin stage, which saw the players meet once over the best of 11 legs, but lost out in the semi-finals to Lewis.
Newton, who reached the PartyPoker.net European Championship final on Sunday, inflicted one of only two defeats on Taylor during the league stage with a brilliant performance in one of four victories.
He then came from 5-3 down to win a thrilling semi-final with Terry Jenkins in a deciding leg before seeing off Lewis 6-3 in the final to win the group. Read the rest of this entry »

PHIL TAYLOR claimed Championship League Darts glory for a second time, following up his earlier nine-darter with a 6-1 defeat of Paul Nicholson in the Winners Group Final.
Taylor, the 2008 champion who has lost in the final of the internet-streamed event for the last two years, regained the trophy in style with a 113.71 average against Nicholson thanks to a terrific display at Crondon Park GC in Essex.
The 51-year-old – who hit a nine-darter during his league stage win over Mervyn King earlier in the day – dominated from the start, winning the first two legs in 13 darts courtesy of double 16 before taking the third leg in 12 darts.
Nicholson got off the mark in the fourth on tops, after Taylor had missed the same bed, but the world number one was swift in securing victory.
He moved 4-1 up with a third 13-dart finish of the game, broke Nicholson’s throw once more in 12 darts and finished a 14-darter to seal his triumph – earning £10,000 as champion in addition to £12,400 prize money he had won during the event. Read the rest of this entry »
