Farlam v Lawman
Fourth seed Lorraine Farlam survived a tough quarter final match toppling Karen Lawman 2-1 to edge into the semi finals.
The Buxton ace needed 49 minutes to dash the title hopes of the former World Master in a match which was overshadowed by big night nerves.
The opening leg went with the throw, double trouble affected both players in the second leg, won by Lawman, remarkably with her 47th dart! The fourth seed took the third leg with the throw, exiting on 90, finished with double tops. The Buxton player won the race to the double but missed three set-winning attempts, Lawman then missing double 16 before Farlam notched double 10 with her second dart.
Lawman, winner of the 1988 World Masters took the opening leg of the second set as the next four legs went with the throwing advantage, the Doncaster player clinching the second set with an eye-catching 75 finish completed with double 20. But Farlam bounced back unleashing a 125 checkout finished on double tops to take the opening leg of the third set, pouncing to finish on double 16 in the next after Lawman fluffed a chance for double tops. Global TV Audiences For Lakeside 2012

BBC and ESPN will be screening over 60 hours of live and recorded coverage of the 2012 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships from Saturday, January 7th to Sunday, January 15th played exclusively on the Winmau Blade 4 Dartboard.
This includes live darts on the first weekend from both BBC (starting with defending Champion Martin Adams v Scott Mitchell on BBC One at 2.30PM on Saturday, January 7th) and ESPN opening up with 2 hours of live darts on the evening of January 7th.
Sunday, January 8th will also have liveLakesidedarts on BBC (afternoon) and ESPN (evening). Monday to Friday coverage then continues with extended highlight on BBC (afternoon and evening) and live darts for three-and-a-half hours each weekday evening on ESPN.
The live Semi-Finals on Saturday, January 14th will be shared by both broadcasters: BBC will show the first Semi-Final live from 14.30 to 16.30 hours, with ESPN screening the second Semi-Final live from 17.00 to 20.00 hours.
To celebrate the 35th consecutive year of the World Professional Darts Championships on BBC, there will be exclusive live coverage on BBC Two of the 2012 Lakeside Final on Sunday, January 15th from 17.45 to 20.00. ESPN will be screening highlights from the 2012 Final from 22.30 to 00.00.
In addition, Lakeside 2012 coverage on Europsort and Eurosport Asia will be available in 99 countries around the globe – completing a TV package that is likely to produce the largest audience for darts in the world.

Winmau Are The New Supporters of The Essex Open Championship 2012

Essex Open Championship 2012
The Winmau Essex Open Championship 2012 will take place at Colchester United Football Club on the 26th of February 2012 and will be played exclusively on the Blade 4 dartboard.
The Essex Open always receives a huge number of entrants, as it carries a good prize fund, is BDO ranked and is promoted in partnership with Colchester United F.C. at The Weston Homes Community Stadium (which is one of the UK’s most modern darts venues). The 2011 event did not disappoint as, after eight hours of darts involving over 300 players, the tournament ended up being decided on one leg of darts, and was won by England International Steve Douglas. 2012 Lakeside Draw – Live On ESPN

Some information taken from the official BDO website in respect of this years BDO World Championship draw:
The LIVE draw for the 2012 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships will take place on ESPN’s ‘Talk Of The Terrace’ programme (6.30PM to 8PM) hosted by Nat Coombes and Kelly Cates on Monday, November 7th.
Making the draw will be Bob Potter, OBE, proprietor of Lakeside Country Club and former Wimbledon keeper Dave Beasant, hero of Wimbledon’s famous Cup Final victory against Liverpool in 1988, when he became the first keeper to save a penalty in an FA Cup final.
BDO Chairman Barry Gilbey and Tournament Director Wayne Williams will also be present.
The 2012 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships will be played at Lakeside Country Club, Frimley Green from Saturday, January 7th to Sunday, January 15th, 2012.

Lakeside 2012 Field Confirmed

Martin Adams and Deta Hedman are the No.1 Men’s and Women’s Seeds respectively for the 2012 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships.
The 35th consecutive staging of the World Professional Darts Championships on BBC TV will be played at Lakeside Country Club, Frimley Green, Surrey from Saturday, January 7th to Sunday, January 15th, 2012.
There will be comprehensive additional TV coverage on ESPN, Eurosport and Eurosport Asia.

DM: Scott, with less than a week to go to the GSOD how is the defending Champ feeling, can you retain the title? When does work stop and the darts start?
SW: At the minute I’m a bit tired working and travelling to comps, and could have done with a couple of days off before the Grand Slam. I will be working all day Friday then driving down to Wolverhampton. 2hrs practice a night up to the Slam and the darts are going well so see what happens….
DM: Last time we spoke we established Wolfie as your Bogey player, you’ve since beaten him twice and gone on to win said tournaments, I’d like to say we motivated you! But it was nailed on really wasn’t it? Is there a feeling of relief, confidence?
SW: It was good to get past Wolfie and play proper darts against him for a change, I was more focused on the job in hand and prepared a little better and it seemed to work. Not sure it was nailed on but a win is a win, and I let him have the first set of the World Masters!

Wolfie Completes Lakeside Hat-trick

Martin Adams joined an exclusive club of three times winners as he won a 131-minute thriller against debutant Dean Winstanley 7-5.
But the 54-year-old veteran from Peterborough, the 1/2 on favourite was made to work for his victory after seeing the third seed reverse a 2-0 deficit and twice lead the match.
After firing home the title-winning double eight he declared: “I am still the old geezer of this tournament and Deano had me under the cosh but the job of a pro player is to find a way back, which I what I did.
“I said to myself, this is not over yet. You have done it before and you can do it again.
“This win means so much. It is title number three which equals people like Eric Bristow and John Lowe. Now I want to win it three times in a row next year to equal Eric’s record.”

Both poker and darts are highly popular pursuits. The games are available online, in fact, that there are organizations dedicated to making sure the rules of video poker and online darts are conformed. Similar to darts having the World Darts Federation, among others, and poker has the Tournament Directors Association.
