McCoys Premier League 300x230 McCoys Premier League Darts Week 10 Preview SheffieldDarts rivals Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld clash when the McCoy’s Premier League Darts visits the Motorpoint Arena on Thursday, as reigning champion Gary Anderson looks to double up in Sheffield.

Taylor and van Barneveld, who have won 20 World Championships and all of the game’s major honours between them in the past two decades, have been the Premier League’s most impressive performers in the opening nine weeks of this season.

Taylor is unbeaten and, with eight wins under his belt, has already secured his place in next month’s Play-Offs, while van Barneveld hit his highest-ever televised average of 112.28 in defeating Kevin Painter last week. Read the rest of this entry »

McCoys Premier League Darts Week 9 Results Nottingham

Posted on April 6th, 2012

McCoys Premier League 300x230 McCoys Premier League Darts Week 9 Results NottinghamMcCoy’s Premier League Darts
Week Nine – Capital FM Arena, Nottingham

Kevin Painter 6-8 Raymond van Barneveld
Adrian Lewis 8-5 James Wade
Andy Hamilton 6-8 Phil Taylor
Simon Whitlock 8-2 Gary Anderson

Despite some great darts being thrown last night including a televised personal best 112.28 average for Raymond van Barneveld and a gutsy performance from Andy Hamilton against Phil Taylor,  the 2012 Premier League Nottingham fixture will probably be remembered by most for the needle between Adrian Lewis and James Wade. Having initially led 4-2, Wade seemed unhappy about something in the second half of their encounter, and Jackpot was keen to protest his innocence. After the match which the World Champion eventually emerged the 8-5 winner (105 ave), the source of the incident was identified as a loose floorboard on the stage – as demonstrated by Rod Harrington and Dave Clark!

The final game of the evening saw Simon Whitlock return to winning form. Following last weeks whitewash at the hand of James Wade, the Australian looked focused and determined as he defeated an understandably out of sorts Gary Anderson 8-2.

Michael’s success means that he could now play Painter live on television, who he confidently predicted he could beat.

The Witham amateur, who is the only player to have won the Essex and London super leagues in the same season in the late 1990s, joined hundreds of other hopefuls with 15 darts at the board, hoping to score enough points to put him in a one-off 701 play leg for qualification.

After eventually prevailing, he said: “I hope to do well in Bolton. It could be the launchpad to kick start everything for me. Read the rest of this entry »

Posted on March 29th, 2012

ADRIAN LEWIS aims to take advantage of playing twice as the McCoy’s Premier League Darts visits the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff on Thursday to boost his Play-Off challenge.

McCoys Premier League 300x230 McCoys Premier League Darts Week 8 Preview CardiffThe World Champion recorded his first victory of the season a week ago in Dublin when he defeated Kevin Painter 8-3, and will play twice in Cardiff in the absence of Gary Anderson, who is attending his father’s funeral in Scotland.

Lewis will open the night against Stoke rival Andy Hamilton before returning to the stage to play Raymond van Barneveld in the fourth match – and despite finding himself bottom a week ago could amazingly move second in the table with two victories.

“My first thoughts go out to Gary and his family at a hard time following the loss of his father, and we’ll all be thinking of him on Thursday,” said Lewis.

“When I was asked to step in and play Andy, that’s the least I can do and looking at the league it’s down to me now to make the most of it. Read the rest of this entry »

“I’m very inconsistent in my scoring but I’m working hard on the practice board to and get that back.
“I’ve got to take the rough with the smooth, and hopefully my luck will change. The Play-Offs are a big doubt at the moment but I’ll be back – I’m not a two-time World Champion for nothing.”
