Happy new year darts fans! A little late admittedly but then this is the first newsletter of 2009. If you’re not happy with that explanation then treat it as an early new year greeting for 2010.

So we’re here this month with some indispensible advice on how to ease the big freeze. It’s quite simple, just stay inside and watch darts!

We’ve just had the Players Championship Finals at the Circus Tavern. Phil Taylor showed who’s boss again and you can read all about it elsewhere on the site. This followed hot on the heels of two great world championships. And kicking off this month is the Whyte & Mackay Premier League – weeks of Thursday night darts on the telly to help warm the cockles.

Another way to beat the winter chill is to sit yourself in front of the pc and pick your Fantasy League Darts team.

There’s £1000 for the winner! Plus we’ll have a whole host of prizes and cash up for grabs every month and during all the major tournaments!

We’ll be starting the competition on February 28th with the Players Championship event in Germany and will run through to the 2010 world championship. If you bag the £1000 you could beat the chill next January by jetting off to sunnier climes!

If you’ve already picked your team you can now make unlimited transfers until the competition gets underway. So get tweaking your team!

And as if that wasn’t enough – we have our popular Beat The Tipster competition running regularly throughout the year. It is currently undergoing a Gok Wan style makeover and we will have some exciting improvements that we’ll be releasing, along with a brand new yearly competition with yet more cash prizes!

If you haven’t discovered our Tipster competition yet, watch out for it when the major tournaments come around. You simply predict all the matches in the tournament right up to the final and the mysterious DartsMad Tipster does the same. If you’re more accurate and ‘beat the tipster’ you are in with a chance of winning prizes or cash! The Tipster does not like to lose, which makes it more fun when you beat him. But don’t tell him we said that.

One guy who doesn’t feel the cold in his big fleece coat is our resident Bookie Basher. He’s the custodian of all the facts and figures in our bulging Dartabase and he’s working on some new features as you read this.

Have you seen the head to head stats we have for all the players? Have you been using our player stats to find that edge on the bookies?

If you like a flutter on the darts then hopefully our Bookie Basher can help you find an edge and turn a profit now and then.

As we mentioned, the Bookie Basher is hard at work so look out for some great new features in the coming weeks and months.

Well that’s all for this month. Wrap up warm when you’re out and enjoy the darts when you’re in!
