Two of the world’s top darts stars are hoping their sharp-shooting arrows will enjoy even more gloss in 2013 – with a helping hand from Leyland Paints.

Leyland PaintsPopular Australian Simon Whitlock and former BDO World Champion Mark Webster were both sponsored by Leyland Paints in 2012, and the agreement with two of the sport’s biggest names has been extended into a second year.

Leyland Paints is delighted to remain at the heart of one of the UK’s fastest growing sports, which is attracting bumper television audiences and regularly packing out some of the UK’s biggest arenas.

“Leyland Paints enjoyed a fantastic year in darts,” said Victoria Jones, Stockist Brand Marketing Manager.

“To be firmly at the heart of a sport which is constantly seeing its popularity grow, has provided us with a unique and exciting opportunity.

“Mark and Simon have been excellent darting ambassadors for Leyland Paints and we are thrilled to be involved in the sport again for 2013.”

Australian Whitlock – who now lives in Waterlooville near Portsmouth – cemented his place as one of world’s leading darters in 2012, climbing into the top five in the world rankings and landing his first major title, the European Championships.

And the 43-year-old – who also won the Dutch Darts Masters and reached the final of the Premier League – is excited about his prospects for the coming year.

“The last 12 months have been very encouraging and I’ve been really pleased with my consistency,” he said.

“I’m desperate to keep being part of the later stages of major tournaments regularly in 2013 and I feel my game is in the shape to do that.

“The support I have received from Leyland in the last 12 months has been brilliant and I’m really looking forward to that continuing.”

Webster was part of the Welsh team which reached the semi-finals of the World Cup of Darts in 2012.

Like Whitlock, he hit a perfect nine-dart finish during the PDC season and the Welshman is upbeat about the year ahead.

“I’ve been pleased with my form over the last couple of months and I’m looking to kick on in the New Year,” said the 29-year-old from Denbigh.

“Leyland is a huge paint brand. I’ve been proud to be associated with them over the last 12 months and it will be the same for 2013.”

Whitlock – who is part of this year’s Premier League – and Webster will be in action at the World Cup of Darts in Germany at the start of February, representing Australia and Wales respectively.
