Premier League Darts Night 12 Betting Preview
Posted on April 29th, 2010
Week 12 premier league predictions from (Sometimes Psychic) Cleggy:
Two fat ladies for Lowebo
The great John Lowe advised me that Phil Taylor provided him with two fat ladies last week – and it only took Lowebo the time for Taylor to win his match against Whitlock to ‘Phil’ his boots. Now, that must have been something special…
Winning £88 on one match…now that’s something to get excited about…what did you think I was talking about?
If you’re willing to put on a fillet ‘stake’, punters, the rewards are obvious…as are the risks. Personally, I can only afford a bit of rump so here go the predictions:

Premier League Darts Night 11 Betting Preview
Posted on April 21st, 2010
Premier League Betting Predictions by Cleggy
As always there are four cracking matches in the darting premier league this week. There were some close encounters in Sheffield last week: a punter’s paradise as any of the players involved could have won the last three matches. The close encounters in Sheffield have continued through the week at the melting pot that is the Crucible Theatre where previous world champions are rolling back the years: both Stephen Hendry and Steve Davis were 10-9 victors in their opening rounds of the snooker world championships. Hearn’s newest empire is becoming exciting again as it learns from the PDC. You never know, the nugget might be walking out alongside our own Nicola Cowell in round two…or maybe not!
For the spear-throwers, it’s up to the afore-awarded capital of culture (tha what?) city of Liverpool for this week’s battles.

Skybet World Grand Prix Betting Preview
Posted on October 4th, 2009
“Dubl-In” – The Skybet Grand Prix in Dublin with it’s lightning fast opening round format and double required to open the leg, spells one thing – shocks from the off. The UK Open is known as the FA Cup of darts but in an ode to the golden days of the FA Cup, shocks are more likley to abound in the Grand Prix. With the messy format, this tournament has proven to be a bookmakers benefit for many punters in the past, the bookies love to take on those four, five and six player accumulators on short priced favourites with the giant-killing factor in their favour.

Stan James World Matchplay Betting Preview
Posted on July 19th, 2009
Eight days of top tungsten is promised with the Stan James World Matchplay. The second most valuable of the PDC’s majors, but arguably the best of the lot in terms of quality and format. There is no need for early round stake reductions in Blackpool. Straight from the off you can launch an attack on the layers with the opening round being best of 19 legs, a lengthy enough affair for players to find their feet on the oche.
There’s no easy ride on the darting funfair at the seaside with the quality of players rising every year and the tournament tends to bring out the best in the very top echelon of players. For 15 years darts sharpshooters have strutted the glorious stage of the darting fans mecca, the Winter Gardens, and indeed the greatest arrowsmith ever, Phil Taylor, has won the event on 9 occasions. Winning 9 from 15 equates Taylor on this stat alone to have a 60% chance of winning again, a 2/3 shot or 1.67 on the exchanges.
Bettors can have 8-13 with fixed odds bookmakers or 1.64 on the exchanges as I write this.
The Matchplay is Taylor’s favourite tournament and 7 of his title wins have come in the last 9 years.
The unique aspect of the Matchplay is the need to win by 2 clear legs, eliminating any final leg deciders, thus giving the best players no excuses of an unlucky defeat. The event can also bring beads of sweat to the spread betting industry traders with potential buyers of legs landing in clover should a marathon match occur. For this to happen look to players who tend to get involved in slogs. Andy Hamilton often finds himself in a tight battle and Kevin Painter rarely wins cosily these days.

Las Vegas Desert Classic Betting Preview
Posted on June 30th, 2009
The PDC circus hits Las Vegas on Wednesday with the Desert Classic held at the Mandalay Resort and Casino, more famous for its Shark Reef Aquarium than arrowsmiths. Screened live on Sky from 7pm UK time it kicks off early morning local time and is a far cry from the raucous Premier League experience. A much flatter show, think Budweiser which has been lying too long in a hot beer garden.
As for the crowd, try to envisage the Rocky Horror show add in some Vegas eccentricity and you will be close. This is the last year the tournament will run on Sky, not too much of a surprise as many view it as the least enticing propostion on the Sky darting calendar. Overseas costs have played a part as many leading global companies tighten their belts.

Both poker and darts are highly popular pursuits. The games are available online, in fact, that there are organizations dedicated to making sure the rules of video poker and online darts are conformed. Similar to darts having the World Darts Federation, among others, and poker has the Tournament Directors Association. These rules are put into place in highly competitive tournaments, in which as many as hundreds or even thousands of people compete for cash prizes as well as prestige.
