2009 Blue Square UK Open Draw

THE draw for the first and second rounds of the Blue Square UK Open on Thursday June 4 has been made.
The £200,000 tournament will kick off at Bolton’s Reebok Stadium with 97 players in action, as the professional players are joined by 31 Holsten Qualifiers for the opening night of action across eight stages.
The one preliminary round game will feature Holsten Qualifiers Gary Stephens against Ken Mather, while the first round sees the remaining amateurs drawn alongside the players ranked from 65-97 in the Blue Square UK Open Order of Merit.
Plum ties in the first round of ‘The FA Cup of Darts’ include 2004 champion Roland Scholten against Derek Williams, Anastasia Dobromyslova against Stoke’s Andy Roberts and Alex Roy against ex-World Champion Richie Burnett.
Gary Mawson, last year’s UK Open runner-up to James Wade, drew Holsten Qualifier Darren Weaver, from Doncaster, for his opener, which will be featured on the main stage alongside games involving St Helens’ Gary Welding against American John Kuczynski and Bradford’s James Barton versus Holland’s Toon Greebe.
The second round saw PDC newcomer Gary Anderson draw Paul Nicholson, another Bolton debutant and a quarter-finalist in the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship at Christmas.

coral.co.uk Players Championship Preview

THE inaugural coral.co.uk Players Championship begins on Friday, with 32 players battling for £200,000 as darts returns to the famous Circus Tavern.
The new, ITV-televised event involves the leading players from all Players Championship tournaments held during 2008.
Offering £50,000 to Sunday night’s champion, play will be over three days at the famous Essex venue, which previously hosted the PDC World Championship for 14 years until 2007.

2009 Lakeside World Professional Championship Draw

The first round draw and schedule for the men’s and ladies events has been made. Top seed Gary Anderson has a tricky tie against an in form Robert Wagner, while 2008 champion Mark Webster faces Willy van der Wiel of the Netherlands the following day.
Winmau World Master Martin Adams takes on debutant Dave Chisnall on a day when all the Martins are in action. Beaten Winmau finalist Scott Waites is up against England’s Ross Smith.

Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship Draw

JOHN PART will begin the defence of his Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship against American Bill Davis, while Phil Taylor drew qualifier Steve Grubb for the first round of the tournament.
Part claimed his third World Championship title 12 months ago, and meets US number two Davis in an all-north American battle at London’s Alexandra Palace.
Phil Taylor, the 13-time World Champion, will take on Somerset-based qualifier Steve Grubb in his opening contest, while number two seed Raymond van Barneveld meets another new face, Newcastle’s Mark Stephenson.

Winmau World Masters 2008 Draw

The event will be played at “The Spa” Bridlington, Yorkshire on 5th – 7th December.
The closing stages will be featured live on BBC Television on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th december.

2008 PartyPoker.com Grand Slam of Darts Draw

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS legend Steve Bull pitted World Champions John Part and Anastasia Dobromyslova together as he performed the draw for the 2008 PartyPoker.com Grand Slam of Darts.
PDC World Champion Part and Women’s World Champion Dobromyslova were drawn alongside Wayne Mardle and 2007 Grand Slam semi-finalist Kevin McDine in Group D for this year’s £356,000 tournament, which begins on Saturday November 15 at the Wolverhampton Civic.

PartyPoker.com Pro-Celebrity Challenge Draw

ENGLAND footballer Neil Ruddock will partner Phil Taylor in the PartyPoker.com Pro-Celebrity Challenge on Friday November 14.
The Pro-Celebrity Challenge will see eight celebrities team up with eight of the top names in world darts at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall ahead of the start of the PartyPoker.com Grand Slam of Darts.

PartyPoker.net European Championship Preview

THE inaugural PartyPoker.net European Championship begins on Thursday night in Frankfurt, with 32 players competing for the £50,000 winner’s cheque.
The new event, the eighth major ranking event on the PDC circuit, will be televised live on ITV4 from the Südbahnhof from Thursday-Sunday.
World number one Phil Taylor will be bidding to claim a fourth successive televised title, having won the PartyPoker.net Las Vegas Desert Classic, Stan James World Matchplay and Sky Poker World Grand Prix since June.

European Championship Qualifiers & Draw

JACKO BARRY and Andy Jenkins claimed the final two qualifying places for the European Championship – and drew Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld for the inaugural event.
Irish star Barry, from Dublin, will take on world number one Taylor on the opening night of the tournament, which is screened live on ITV4.

Both poker and darts are highly popular pursuits.
