2012 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship Qualifiers

THE international qualifiers for the 2012 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship have been confirmed.
The £1 million tournament, darts’ biggest event, will see 72 players take part at Alexandra Palace in London from December 15 2011-January 2 2012.
The PDC’s top 32 players will qualify automatically for the tournament, alongside the top 16 non-qualified players from the Players Championship Order of Merit after the final PDC ProTour events on November 27.
Additionally, the top four non-qualified players from the European Order of Merit will qualify and earn a place in the first round, alongside the leading non-qualified North American player from the PDC Order of Merit.
The winner of the PDPA Qualifier, to be held on Monday November 28 in Wigan, will join them in the first round draw, alongside Sean Reed, the DPA Australian Grand Prix champion and the Oceanic Masters winner.
A further 16 places in the Preliminary Round have been awarded to a combination of international qualifiers, as well as the PDPA Qualifier Runner-Up and the PDC Unicorn Youth Tour Order of Merit winner.
Qualifiers will come from across Europe, Scandinavia and Asia, as well as from the South African Masters and the new South Asia Qualifier, featuring players from Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.
Shane O’Connor and Connie Finnan will battle for the place reserved for the winner of the Tom Kirby Memorial Irish Matchplay event when they contest the final at the Citywest Hotel, Dublin on Sunday October 9 ahead of the World Grand Prix final, while Warren French (pictured) has already qualified through the New Zealand rankings.

….Meet the Rileys 32!
The Speedy Hire UK Open, known as the ‘FA cup of Darts’, takes place in June and Rileys Sports Bars are giving 32 amateur players the chance to compete against some of the biggest names in darts in this leading competition.
The Rileys 32 consists of individual heat winners from the Rileys UK Open Qualifiers competition which ran in April at Rileys Darts Zones across the UK. The competition, which was open to anyone, offered players the opportunity to win a place in the Speedy Hire UK Open plus a personalised shirt and Rileys vouchers. The 32 winners now all have a chance to play against the professionals on live TV, competing in one of the biggest events on the darts calendar and with the potential to make a name for themselves. UK Open Order of Merit Finalised

A TOTAL of 108 professional players have qualified to compete in the Speedy Hire UK Open in June.
Following the eight Qualifiers which have been held across four weekends this Spring, reigning UK Open champion Phil Taylor topped the Order of Merit by just £400 from Gary Andersno, who joined him in winning two events.
The other four tournament winners, World Champion Adrian Lewis, Steve Brown, Michael Smith and Vincent van der Voort, will join Taylor and Anderson in entering the Speedy Hire UK Open at the Third Round stage on Friday June 3 after finishing in the top 32.
Two-time UK Open winner Raymond van Barneveld, who reached the final of one of the two Qualifiers he competed in, also comes in for the Third Round, and is joined by World Championship semi-finalists Mark Webster and Terry Jenkins, who were among six players tied on £2,600 prize money to complete the top 32.
However, Thursday’s opening night will feature 2008 champion James Wade and 2005 winner Roland Scholten, as well as two-time World Champion Dennis Priestley, Colin Lloyd, Steve Beaton, Wayne Mardle, Peter Manley and the Dutch trio of Michael van Gerwen, Jelle Klaasen and Co Stompe.

Chance to Compete in The UK Open With Speedy Hire

Speedy, the UK’s leading provider of equipment rental and support services, is offering darts fanatics the sporting chance of a lifetime with an invitation to qualify for one of the game’s biggest tournaments – with the help of a hugely popular world champion.
Speedy has 16 places up for grabs for the UK Open at the Reebok Stadium in June, which will be divided over four qualifying events in Bristol, Dartford, Stoke and Glasgow.
Whoever succeeds will then move a step closer to a date with Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor and the leading lights of the darting world at the Speedy Hire UK Open itself.
Speedy has also enlisted the help of 2004 World Champion Andy Fordham, who will be present at each event to offer coaching tips for each player.
Budding throwers will be given 15 darts at the board, with the highest four scores overall at each event winning a place at the Speedy Hire UK Open at the Reebok Stadium in June.
