Some of the biggest names in world darts are set to be joined by eight Speedy Services employees at the FA Cup of Darts at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton in June.

Speedy Services, which sponsors the PDC UK Open, allows 24 amateur players to qualify for the tournament, along with eight company employees through a series of darts challenges.

Ben Johnson, Paul Cirtchley, Stuart Daniels, Kirk Gordon, Andy Melling, Mark Kelly, Darrin Pugh and Mark Spencer all impressed at the oche at the employee qualifying event in Haydock.

For Stuart, Kirk and Darrin, it will be the second successive year of qualification to the event, in a doubly special achievement for the trio.

The Speedy workers, who all travelled from various depot centres around the country, completed a 15-dart challenge, before defeating opponents in a straight 501 knock out.

Sixteen amateur players qualified from events in Brighton, Dartford, Leeds, Stoke, Inverness and Cardiff.

Speedy enlisted the help of 2008 darts world champion, Mark Webster, to give participants expert advice.

Speaking of the event, Mark said: “Despite the final eight places only being available for Speedy employees, the quality of darts on show today was exceptionally high.

“My advice to them for UK Open finals would be to savour the atmosphere and make the most of the occasion. With a positive mindset, anything is possible.”

Steve McIntyre, group marketin director for Speedy Services, said: “These qualifiers have been absolutely fantastic for amateur darts players and our employees.

“The standards of darts on show has been consistently high at all of our qualifying events, including the employee event.

“We wish all qualifiers the best of luck at the Reebok Stadium.”
