Fantasy League Darts

"It's always good to see another aspect to our sport, and to know it is in a position to rival Fantasy Football. I play Fantasy League Darts every year and let Fantasy become a Reality!" darting legend John Lowe.

See who John has picked in his own dream darts team, Lowie's Bullies.

The premier Fantasy League Darts (FLD) competition is bigger and better than before and back for 2012!

Once again you can manage a squad of PDC and BDO players side by side. It looks like the unification of darts is still some time away so DartsMad.com has unified darts for you!

Based on our exclusive Fantasy Unified World Darts Ranking (UWDR) system, the 2012 FLD competition will award points to players from both sides of the divide, based on our Fantasy UWDR points structure.

The FLD competition runs from February to January, culminating in the two World Championships, and taking in every Fantasy UWDR ranked event in between. That’s all PDC Majors and Pro Tour events, as well as all BDO Majors and Category A, B & C events.

Simply pick a team of 10 players with a combined budget of £60 million or less. You then earn points on your players' performances throughout the season. Players will earn Fantasy UWDR points for their finishing position in an event, plus extra match points as shown on the right. You can make unlimited transfers right up to the start of the competition, and 2 further transfers during the course of the competition.

It's just £3.50 to enter a team and the end of season cash prizes will be based on the total entry fund. So dont forget to tell your friends! More teams = Higher cash prizes! You can also play for free but remember – you won’t be eligible for the cash!

Fantasy League DartsFLD 2010 winner was Dave Sheppard, Dave's Missfits team was anchored by an under-perofrming Phil Taylor but had Simon Whitlock & Gary Anderson to thank for seeing him top the table. Dave took home the £200 first prize and had this to say:-

"Winning any competition is fantastic achievement, but winning this one was particularly satisfying because it required an element of skill, research and knowledge and not just luck.

I would like to take this opportunity to point out that the competition is very well run by Lee, which along with the regular updates, meant that we could all follow the progress of our chosen teams throughout the competition.

I look forward to entering again and I have no hesitation in recommending this competition to anyone who thinks they have the skill and knowledge of the darts scene to be the top tipster. It costs a lot less than a round of drinks, but you can win considerably more ! As for my tactics in picking my teams, I will not give too much away, but I will point out that the more teams you enter, the better your chances.

I would encourage everyone reading this to enter the 2011 competition, as there is no other national darts competition like it.

And finally my tip for 2011 – leave out Taylor at your peril..!"

Congratulations go to second placed Jacques Nieuwlaat who ran Dave close, and to Trevor Carey who came third for the second year running but will be rueing his decision to transfer World Champion Adrian Lewis out of his team part way through the season.

Inaugural Champion in 2009 was Simon Shaw and after Simon cashed his £1000 cheque this is what he had to say:-
Fantasy League Darts “Obviously, I'm delighted to be DartsMad's first ever Fantasy Darts Champion, having beaten off some stiff competition from other highly knowledgeable darts' gurus to pocket a cool £1,000 in the process.

It's been a fantastic, exciting and well-run competition with several darting highlights during the year, culminating in Barney's 9-darter at the Worlds, which more or less pushed me over the finishing line.

I want to thank Lee at DartsMad and the other organisers for putting on such a great competition in its inaugural season and congratulate the other prize-winners.

However, there is some bad news:  unfortunately for everyone else, I'll be back next year to defend my title. It won't be too long until they're speaking about me in the same breath as Phil Taylor - Simon Shaw "The Greatest Fantasy Darts Player the World has ever seen.

Maybe 20 years down the line, I'll be gearing up to bag my 15th title - don't bet against it, folks!”
