Grand Slam Of Darts Wildcard Spot Up For Grabs

NEW WDF DUTCH TOURNAMENT
DBT Events and Diamond Media are proud to announce that the new Zuiderduin Masters will be played from Friday 7th December to Sunday 9th December 2007 at the Zuiderduin Hotel, Egmond am Zee in the Netherlands. The new sponsor is Zuidenduin Hotel where the event has been played for the last 5 years, originally as the Doeland Masters, and then for two years as the Leendisk Masters. The sponsorship contract is for 5 years from 2007, and is unique because only WDF players will be invited to compete. Prize money for this first event will be 33,500 Euros.
The field will comprise the top 20 players in the BDO Invitation Tables, plus a further 4 wild card WDF players. The 24 players will be drawn into 8 Groups of 3, with the winner of each Group progressing to the Quarter-Finals and playing through to the final in KO style. All Group matches will be played on the evening of December 7th and the afternoon and evening of December 8th. The KO Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals will be played on the afternoon of December 9th, with the final being played on the evening of December 9th. Players to be invited include reigning Lakeside World Champion Martin Adams, and BDO favourites Tony O’Shea, Darryl Fitton, Ted Hankey and Topic IDL Champion Gary Anderson. Dutch players to be invited include Co Stompé, Niels de Ruiter and Remco van Eijden. Four wildcards will be given to WDF players. |

INCREASED PRIZE FUND FOR WINMAU WORLD MASTERS
The 2007 Winmau World Masters will become the richest televised two-day tournament in world darts when it is screened by BBC Sport over the weekend of Saturday, November 17th and Sunday, November 18th from Leisure World, Bridlington. Staged by the British Darts Organisation, it will have record-breaking prize money of £60,000 - with the Men’s World Master collecting a cheque for £25,000 – and for the first time ever JJB Sports will be secondary sponsor.

TOP AMERICAN GETS GRAND SLAM OF DARTS PLACE
THE leading American player in the North American Order of Merit following the Windy City Open in September will win a place in the 2007 Grand Slam of Darts.
The top US player from the five PDC tournaments held in North America this year will, in addition to his invitation to compete in the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship, be offered the chance to compete in the £300,000 event at the Wolverhampton Civic from 17-25 November.
Currently, Gary Mawson leads the standings ahead of Ray Carver, following the PDC US Open, Las Vegas Players Championship and Las Vegas Desert Classic. However, the two Players Championship tournaments to be held over the next month - the Peachtree Open in Atlanta on 26 August and the Windy City Open in Chicago on 16 September - will now take on further significance. |

INCREASED PRIZE FUND FOR BLUE SQUARE UK OPEN
There will be a record prize fund for the 2008 Blue Square UK Open, with almost £70,000 more prize money in the regional finals and the televised finals in Bolton.
The 8 regional finals for the 2008 UK Open will begin in September with the Welsh regional final at the Newport Centre.
Each of the 8 events will now have an increased prize fund of £25,000 and will only be open to PDPA members.
Only PDPA members will be able to compete in the Regional Finals, although non-members will still be able to win a place in Bolton via an improved Pub Qualifiers system.
The prize fund will increase from £20,000 per event to £25,000 for each Regional Final, with the last 64 onwards receiving prize money, and another change will see each event played on just one day from September onwards.
In addition, the prize fund for the Blue Square UK Open Televised Finals at Bolton in June 2008 will increase from £150,000 to £178,000.
The winner will take home £35,000, with the runner-up earning £15,000 and the semi-finalists winning £10,000. |

GERMAN DARTS CHAMPIONSHIP LAUNCHED
THE first German Darts Championship will be played on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 December 2007 at the Gerry Weber Event & Convention Centre in Westfalen.
The tournament will allow PDPA members to compete with local hopefuls over two days for 100,200 euro in prize money, with the winner taking home €25,000. The event will be filmed by DSF and broadcast in Germany. |

PACIFIC MASTERS 2007
Ian Brown from Mackay in Queensland became the 2007 Pacific Masters Champion with a 6 – 2 victory over Russell Stewart from Canberra. Western Australian Natalie Carter (left) won her first Pacific Masters title, a title that has eluded her for a number of years. Carter has won every other big title in Australia over the years and today she defeated a great friend and two times Pacific Masters Champion in Louise Ball. |
